Krystal Lin graduated from New York University with a Photography and Imaging Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2009.

With keen eyes for colors and mixed media collages, she established a unique vision that simplifies complicated things.

Her inspirations are collected from her travels, nature, yoga and meditation.

Krystal Lin 畢業於 NYU 美國紐約大學平面攝影與影像系，對色彩與不同材質拼貼情有獨鍾，並保有獨特風格及美感。

多年來旅遊探索世界各地：希臘、肯亞、印度、法國、義大利、德國…等，用她的角度看見不同的世界。

大自然和瑜珈都是她的創作靈感，更是人生啟發。

旅行累積的寶貴經驗，加上瑜珈學到的細微感官，成為了 Krystal 傳達生活態度的精髓。

I consider myself a visual person, for I naturally perceive, communicate and remember through visual imageries.

I started creating mixed medium collages back in high school, and what was originally an attempt to create something different, soon became my unique way of expression.

​

When I first got into college, it was the first year they added “& Digital” to the Photography major. As the digital age allowed us to excitingly learn about the infinite potential of imaging, it also made us contemplate photography overall—the original fundamental skills and processes have been quickly replaced by the push of a few buttons. Upon my graduation in 2009, and with the increasing accessibility of technology, suddenly everyone can be a photographer.

It was then clear that these changes were encouraging us to challenge and break free from our boundaries.

After a few years in the fashion and commercial photography industry, I gave myself a break and dove right into an intensive month of Yoga Teacher Training in summer 2015. What I got out of it was far beyond a sheet of Certificate; it was an awakening that directed me back to my initial passion for photography.

I decided to utilize my favorite collaging concept on photography, which I discovered is the perfect way to create contents beyond convention in this digital age, and that was the beginning to my digital double exposure journey.

Finally later in 2015, my first collection Wanderlust was born. It is a compilation of my travels, layering multiple images of experiences. Art and culture say a lot about a place, hence each opportunity to explore the world is a lesson in life that I would always want to share.

​

Through my photographs, I would like to portray these truthful feelings through layers of visions — after all, feelings are personal experiences, beliefs, and memories that are indescribable in words.

Life is much more than what we see in front of us, it is a composition of multiple images that apart they may mean nothing; yet together, they can convey a much deeper meaning.

我從小以圖像去思考、看事情並紀錄。在最初的創作過程中喜歡上不同材質拼貼， 也開啟了我獨特的視覺傳達方式。

進大學的那一年，攝影系頭一次被加了上「數位」這個名詞。在這全新的數位時代，除了底片這樣的傳統媒介，年輕創作者有更多方式可以探索與影像有關的可能性，但也同時要面對數位與傳統攝影創作過程產生的反差衝突。

2009畢業那一年，我發現幾乎人人都能成為攝影師，攝影這個專業技術成了我挑戰及突破自己的功課。

經過了幾年時尚與商業攝影經驗，在2015年夏天，我突然決定給自己一個新的方向也是緩和思考的空間，直接全心投入一整個月的瑜珈師資訓練。瑜珈幫助我了解自己，也指引我找回對攝影的初衷。我決定運用最一開始喜歡藝術拼貼的概念去創作攝影，發現運用數位疊影不只反應了大環境的改變，也開啟了我獨一無二重曝攝影的表現風格。

在 2015 年9月，我推出了第一個藝術攝影系列「隨心所遇」。照片的疊影代表著幾年下來旅行所累積的寶貴經驗，世界各地的文化與藝術如此多變，打開眼界並不停學習已成了我想啟發並推從的主旨。

​

儘管只是定格照片，我嚮往運用一層層的影像堆疊表現真實感受 — 那些很難用言語形容的，由個人經驗、信念與記憶組成的深刻感受。就像現實人生，生活遠比眼前看見的多很多，數不清的層面只有拼湊合成時，才會產生驚喜般的共鳴，讓一切更有意義。
